RESERVATIONS GUIDELINES & POLICIES

If you would prefer to personally speak to a Hannagan Meadow staff member about our accommodations or reservation policies, please call 928-339-4370.

All rates are subject to change without notice. Due to the small size of our property, reservations are highly recommended.. As of January 1, 2007, the lodge will no longer be a Bed and Breakfast Inn. We will still do breakfast - the price just won't be included in the lodging. The good news is the prices of both the lodge and cabins will be a little lower.

Cabins are available 365 days a year (A 2 night minimum stay may be required in the cabins on weekends and holidays.) The lodge rooms are also available, and there is no minimum stay for the lodge. The dining room is only open on weekends during the winter months. We DO NOT do lunch in the winter. The dining room IS open every evening and morning during the summer, from Memorial Day weekend - through Nov 1, with lunch on Saturdays only (12pm-2pm.), If a family reunion rents the whole lodge, the dining room will be closed to the public, so the family can use the facilities. If you plan to eat in our dining room, please call ahead to make sure we will be serving meals while you are here. Hannagan Meadow is NOT a community - there is only the lodge, cabins, and a small store. Most of the cabins have kitchens for cooking - the two that don't have a small refrigerator, coffee pot, microwave and toaster oven. If you don't want to cook, the nearest restaurant is in Alpine - 22 miles. We also plan to expand our store, to make more snacks available, during the summer months. If we don't receive any reservations by 4:30pm, the dining room will not open that evening.

The dining room is open some holidays, such as Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years Eve, for a dinner buffet. If you are a cabin guest, please let one of the staff know if you plan to eat in the dining room, so we can plan accordingly.

The rooms and cabins do not have phones, clocks, or televisions. There are pay phones located in the fireplace lobby of the lodge, or on the porch of the store for emergencies. To avoid problems in our remote location, a phone card is suggested. Cell phones do not work at the lodge, but some get service 8 miles north, or 8 miles south of the lodge.

We do have a wireless router in the lodge for internet access, but it has limited range and may not reach all the cabins. You are welcome to sit in the lobby of the lodge however, where wireless signal strength is usually good, if you want to use your personal laptop for internet access.

Winter rates are in effect November 1 - April 30. Spring and fall rates are effective May-June; mid August- Nov 1. Summer rates are in effect July - mid August. Higher summer rates apply during Thanksgiving weekend (Weds-Sun) and during Christmas week (Dec. 24- Jan. 2).

A discount is available for extended stays of a week or more. At the moment there are no other discounts available: (AARP or government.)

Pets are NEVER allowed in the Lodge, but they are allowed in the cabins. There is a $10 fee, per pet, per night - two pets only please.

A 50% deposit is due when your reservation is made. If canceled at least seven days before, the balance will not be charged.Your deposit is not refundable, but can be used up to a year for another reservation with us. Cash or check deposits must be received at least 7 days prior to check-in or may be subject to cancellation. We do NOT refund money if your picnic gets rained on, or you don't catch any fish.

We are also located in the middle of a primitive wilderness - and don't provide the amenities you might expect at a posh hotel. We do NOT have maid service, and don't fix fancy meals in the restaurant, although we do have tasty salmon, sirloin, and chicken dishes. We also have a soup and salad bar, but do not have an extensive menu for vegetarians. People who enjoy our lodge and cabins come here to get away, listen to the quiet, and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Check-in time is 3 p.m. Check-out time is 11 a.m. Items damaged or missing from rooms or cabins will be charged to your account. An extra housekeeping fee of $25 may be charged if you change rooms or cabins midway through your stay. Early check-outs for non-emergency reasons may also be charged $25. Since cabins are a 2 night minimum on the weekends, if you choose to leave after only one day, you may STILL be charged for the second night - especially on holidays.

In the summer, we occasionally have a bonfire in the evenings, depending on weather conditions, and availability of staff to light and tend it. The bonfire is large, and is NOT intended for roasting marshmallows. If you want to have a small fire, there is a forest service campground with fire pits, south of the lodge. Due to the drought situation, there have been fire restrictions placed by the forest service every spring and early summer, which include no open camp fires, or charcoal grills. Please ask the forest service which restrictions may be in force during your stay.

Please be advised, from the middle of May-August, ALL of the white mountains have a moth infestation - some years are worse than others. There may be days when there aren't many moths -other days there may be several. (The good news is - moths don't bite or sting.) We do everything we can to bomb and spray each spring, but some still manage to allude us - they come out of the forest, and fly in the doors. We also vacuum everyday, but if you have a major problem with bugs, the fall and winter months may be a better time to visit us. The good news is, due to our high elevation (9100 feet), we DON'T have mosquitoes, skunks or rattlesnakes. We also live in the wilderness, and little furry creatures sometimes visit the cabins. Even though we bait and trap, there is NO way we can get all of them. We do have several resident cats however, who earn their keep, and have decreased the rodent population considerably over the past few years. PLEASE -don't let the cats in the cabins or the lodge (even though you think they are cute) - some people have severe allergies.

We also have bears in the area, who LOVE to get in to any food you may leave around. They have not injured anyone, but we do NOT want to encourage them, by leaving ice chests and other food out in the open.

We have a wildlife and outdoor site-seeing motorized buggy that takes morning and afternoon trips from the lodge (from the middle of May through October.) It seats 8 (including the driver). Reservations for the buggy can be made at the lodge, or call the reservation line for more information.

Horseback riding is available from Memorial Day- Nov 1. See our website, or call the lodge for more information.

We have cross country skis, tubes, and snowshoe rentals during the winter months. We do not provide ski lessons. Due to the high cost of liability insurance, we do not have snow mobile rentals - (but hope that will change some day). The forest service keeps the trails maintained, but after a large snowstorm it may be a few days before the trails are groomed again.

When planning your trip, please contact the Alpine Ranger District at (928) 339-4384 for trail and forest conditions. Contact ADOT (Arizona Department of Transportation) at (888)411-ROAD for current road conditions. Please, DO NOT call the lodge for road conditions, or weather.

For updated weather information, log on to http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/twc/ and click on northern Greenlee county (the county northeast of Safford, next to the New Mexico border.) This will bring up weather specific to Hannagan Meadow.

The Hannagan General Store is available for snacks, gas, souvenirs, basic supplies and winter sports equipment rentals. Please be advised, it is more of a gift shop than a grocery store, and we do NOT sell perishables. The nearest grocery store is 22 miles away.

Sincerely,

Hannagan Meadow Lodge
